From PDF to TallyPrime in four steps

  1. Download the statement PDF

Log in to SBI net banking and download the account statement for the period you need as a PDF. Don't print to PDF or scan it.

  2. The statement password

Most banks lock statement PDFs. You type the password on the Convert page; it's used on your PC only and never sent anywhere. The email that came with your statement is always the final word.

    Usual password for SBI

Statements downloaded from SBI internet banking usually open with your 11-digit account number. E-statements sent by email use the last five digits of your registered mobile number followed by your date of birth as DDMMYY.

  3. Convert, review and fix

Drop the PDF on the Convert page. Every row is checked against the running balance and the figures printed on the statement; anything that doesn't match is shown in red so you can fix it in place.

Example rows, not from a real statement.

  4. Import into TallyPrime

Export Tally XML. If you exported a ledgers file, import it first so the vouchers find their ledgers.

Rows without a ledger go to Suspense; reclassify them in Tally afterwards.
